| The End of the World |
Page 1 of 3 Will the world end soon? Will the ozone layer have so many holes that it resembles Swiss cheese and we will suffer hideous consequences from UV rays? Will global warming cause such a melt down that the earth will once again be flooded? Will human beings end up blowing each other up to bits and pieces? Will someone press the wrong button and POOF; we’ll wake up with the worst sunburn of our lives? Will pollution and garbage simply overrun the earth? Perhaps volcanoes, hurricanes and tornadoes will place the earth in such a state of chaos that it will never recover. People have been concerned about these things for as long as I can remember. Since the beginning of time, mankind has feared the end of the world. HOW AND WHEN THE WORLD WILL END? "And they asked Him, Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when this is about to occur? And He said, Be on your guard and be careful that you are not led astray; for many will come in My name [appropriating to themselves the name Messiah which belongs to Me], saying, I am He! and, The time is at hand! Do not go out after them. And when you hear of wars and insurrections (disturbances, disorder, and confusion), do not become alarmed and panic-stricken and terrified; for all this must take place first, but the end will not [come] immediately. Then He told them, Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be mighty and violent earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences (plagues: malignant and contagious or infectious epidemic diseases which are deadly and devastating); and there will be sights of terror and great signs from heaven. Luke 21:7-11 (AMP) I like what verse 9 tells us. It says, “Do Not Be Terrified!” This is a command, not a suggestion. If you are afraid, it is by your own choice. Many people in this day and age are obsessed with what will happen on the earth. But the truth is we don’t have to be concerned at all. Instead of being full of fear, we are to trust God, be full of Him, walk with Him and it will all work out for us. “And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth [there will be] distress (trouble and anguish) of nations in bewilderment and perplexity [without resources, left wanting, embarrassed, in doubt, not knowing which way to turn] at the roaring (the echo) of the tossing of the sea, Men swooning away or expiring with fear and dread and apprehension and expectation of the things that are coming on the world; for the [very] powers of the heavens will be shaken and caused to totter.” Luke 21:25-26 (AMP) Scientists have done years of study, spent millions and millions in tax dollars to find out just what is causing global warming and how we can fix the problem. After all their efforts, they have concluded that MANKIND is the cause of it all. Wow, what a revelation! I could have told them that for a lot less money. Personally, I’m not convinced that there is anything to be so concerned about. God created this world with the ability to handle whatever man could come up with to destroy it. I don’t think God has ever thought to Himself, “I made a mistake. I blew it. I never took into account about global warming. I didn’t plan ahead. Rats!” “Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3:3-4 (NKJV) There exists an underlying fear in mankind that bad things will happen and that the end of the world is near. The Bible even says that in the last days people would come up with all kinds of ideas about what will happen. If you ask 20 different people about the end times, you will get 20 different opinions. |
